Direct Dial permissions
Hi all;
I used to have NS toggle, NS Shortcuts and Tuffs applications before with my old smpartphones and Android 5.1.1.
These shortcut methods also could do the direct dial with your favorite contacts. But on MAte 8 it cannot be with any of theese apps.
I let the permissions for launching telephone and making calls but ıt says can not and does not do anything. Nova launcer also can not do the direct call.
I want my favorites on notification drawer. I know shortcuts may be done on the home screen but not the same thing. I want to scroll down the notification drawer and see my favorite contacts there with 3 of theese apps. And ith just one click dial them.
What permission or what app may be problematic? Is that an EMUI issue? Why does a third party app can not have permission to call a contact directly.

UK G Pad 8.3 (V500) - Bricked. Decryption unsuccessful, won't load TWRP either. Help?

I encrypted the tablet at the weekend and now it says:
"Decryption unsuccessful: The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt. To resume using your tablet, you need to perform a factory reset".
Clicking the "Reset Tablet" button and TWRP loads but sticks at the initial blue logo loading screen. It doesn't get past this.
If I press the G Pad hardware buttons to load TWRP Recovery it gets past the TWRP loading screen but:
TWRP asks me for the Decryption Password then. I enter this then it says:
"Trying Decryption with your password:
Updating Partition details... Full SELinux support is present."
It then sticks there and doesn't progress further.
I'm selling the tablet so am happy to Factory Reset it but can't get the tablet to load to do this?

Kind of at wit's end with the notification issues
I bought this device knowing there would be potential notification issues, but I had seen mixed reports that the L29 model may not suffer from them. It took about a day, but they finally started showing up. My main issue is email. I have tried stock Gmail, Bluemail and Typemail (same app, basically). After the screen has been off for about 5 minutes, I stop getting notifications for email.
I have seen people blame this on doze, but my Nexus 6p isn't nearly this bad, at least not until it has been sitting for hours. I have tried everything to resolve this including:
Even all of these things in combination are not working. Nothing works. Since other Huawei devices have this issue, it doesn't seem like Huawei is planning to fix it. I know people want to blame Doze, but neither my Moto X Pure or Nexus 6P are this bad, both of which are running Marshmallow. Something else is going on with the ROM. Short of getting an actual Cyanogenmod port, I don't know that we'll ever see this resolved.
It's frustrating, too, because I like everything else about this phone, but this is a pretty big deal. A Smartphone that doesn't get notifications reliably is pretty useless.

Mounting an image made with adb pull ...
I had a S3 i9300 and I want to check if I can recover some files from data partition
after a hard reset.
I have been able to get an image of data partition with
My problem is to mount this image on linux.
I tried of course:
but I get ..
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
I tried to understand what was going on with fdisk ...
and it doesn't seem to find a partition and give the offset.
anyway android mount that block like that ...
any suggestions?

I just got my 6p 2 days ago and it's still without rooting or even a 3rd app and I have a really Sirius problem some websites doesn't open when I'm on my home WiFi but it's open without problems on mobile network .. on the other side my mate 7 open them over same network!

Device wakeup in Doze mode.
Greenified device waking up when there is a shake or movement, kept idle. Ambient screen flashing up every now and then when I am not even picking it up.
Anyway to fix it ? On top of that previously I didnt have ambient screen turned on. Anyway to disable ambient display ?

MM with wifi calling?
Stock ASOP MM images from Google and roms based on stock have wi fi calling, but CM doesn't. Why is that? I know international roms have no need for it, but there is nothing that includes wi fi calling.

Fire Phone is doing nothing after flashing CM11 severall times.
Hi,
I put CM 11 on my fire phone. After I dialed a phone number and pushed send, the screen instantly went black. That was enoying so I tried to install the recent CM 11 from 02/16/2016. (Now I know that the display protection might have caused the issue) After the installation I booted the phone. After I had to choose the language in cyanogenmod in the phone was written that the installer was stopped. So I was in a loop of beeing asked for the language.
So I put OS (via adb sideolad) on the fire phone again and installed CM11 and the recent open gapps. Everytime the installer stopped and I was in that loop again.
I tried it with different Open gapps and CM11.
Now suddenly the Fire Phone does not do anything anymore. Just a black screen. I tried several button combinations with several time combinations. Even not the amazon sign appears.
I have two fire phones and am more or less scilled in flashing and installing. But now I do not know how to tread the issue.
I think about opening the Fire Phone and disconnect the battery for some seconds. That move might do something....
Any recommendations? Any ideas? Anybody had similar issues?

No Recovery After Root

Help - Google auto sync issues
In the last couple of weeks I noticed that gmail is not always up to date. Started looking into it and found that auto sync for google account is not working right. It always syncs manually. If I don't touch it - it syncs randomly. Sometimes emails arrive 3-4 hours after they get to gmail. Other times they get to the phone in time. If I open google account from settings - accounts, I can see the times it synced all the elements and sometimes they're way behind.
All the auto-sync is enabled on the phone. I tried clearing data and cache, removed and readded google account, finally did a full reset last night. This morning it didn't show emails that arrived in the middle of the night. I went into the account and forced it to sync. It worked and 2 hours later still working but I'm sure it'll stop at some point. Are there any logs I can look at? any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

[OOS][LAYERS] Share your setup !
Hi all,
as you all (maybe not ?) know, Oxygen OS is partially compatible with RRO Layers, so you can take your chance, install the Layers Manager App and try some of them.
But, if you're as (un)lucky as me, you'll end up most of the time either in a bootlop (in this case, reboot in TWRP, mount system,
then go to advanced menu, file manager and go to system/vendor/overlays and delete all (or only faulty one if you know which one is,
most of the time framework, or systemui) apks.
So, i've spent many (MANY) hours searching, trying, bootlooping, TWRPing, again and again in order to get a dark and lovely theme without bugging with the power menu,
or blinding white notifications... or dark notifications but white settings.... :silly:
And although i was close to give up, i finally managed to get exactly what i wanted, but i had to mix 3 different layers to get it working.
So i'll share my setup here.
I needed 3 layers,
the first one is from Spannaa, and called Simple Blue Layers Theme (please do not go there to complain about anything, this theme is designed to work on OP2, and not OPX, thanks.)
the second one is Domination Layers Theme and is optional, i only used it for playstore and contacts, but that's a matter of taste.
And the last one is called Oxygen Layers Theme.
And this is the kind of bad part, it's a paid theme... but that's the only layer i found that isn't causing a bug with framework (you can't hold power to get power menu, it results in a soft reboot).
So, if you ask me, it's worth 1,32€ (and no, i'm not the author nor a friend of him).
But if you find one free, and working, share it :highfive:
The last two screenshots are what i installed, but there a different choices you can make, for example with Simple Blue, you can choose single or double column for settings page.
You can also choose the icons' style (thin in my screenshot).

I forgot to mention that i'm using Dark theme from under OOS settings, i don't know the exact term, maybe customization ? (personnalisation in french) and not switching to dark mode would probably result in troubles, so first, apply dark mode, then install layers.

I forgot to mention that i'm using Dark theme from under OOS settings, i don't know the exact term, maybe customization ? (personnalisation in french) and not switching to dark mode would probably result in troubles, so first, apply dark mode, then install layers.
And keep Default accent colors too.

please help me with my phone Samsung Galaxy S Advance (19070p) .. I am a big fan of custom ROMs esp. for this phone, I currently using carbon KitKat 4.4.4, then I already experience on liquid smooth, dirty unicorns, vanir, slimkat, and omnirom .. everything works fine but when I flash Jellybean ROMs like Galaxperia V1 and V3, and also Windows Phone 8, it shows successfully installed but when I boot it, first is the Samsung logo and after that is black screen and NO IMAGE .. that's why I pull out the battery and go back to recovery, wipe everything and restore ..
is their any solution on this problem sir ??? PLEASE HELP ME ..

No notification on incoming text messages
I have had a HTC One Max now for almost two years. Over the last few weeks, incoming text notifications for the most part have stopped. The phone ringer works fine every time, but 90% of the time I have to just check my phone to see if I have an incoming text. I am using Mood SMS, but that apparently is not the problem. I also have the same issue if I use ChompSMS or the stock messaging app. Notifications are turned on, on both MoodSMS and the stock app. I have tried clearing cache and have even done a factory reset of the phone, and this is still happening. The phone is stock 4.4.2 and is temporarily rooted using Weaksauce2. It has been this way for months with no problems, so I do not think I can blame it. As a side note, last week we had severe storms and tornado warnings, and I also never received any notification or alarms for them. My wife's and co-workers phones all went off like crazy during the storm warnings. I am baffled! Does anybody have any ideas on what the problem could be? Any help would be appreciated!! :D

Anyone able to flash 5.0.1 on SM-T110?

Looking around xda forum, it looks like the T110 only have up to 4.2.2 rom that is flashable. Digging around on the internet, i found some places (not sure if is legit) that talked about flashing the vanilla 5.0.1 directly into the T110... I've got TWRP installed via Odin, but i am unable to flash that 5.0.1 rom that came in as .tgz via Odin. i extracted it out, and there were some shell scripts in that for the install...
Has anyone ever tried that or got it to work? And anyone know how to adb connect to the Tab 3 7?

Thank You Samsung.. A small MM review
Im really enjoying the new MM 601 update on my S6 Edge...
This is entirely from my own Opinion, so feel free to chime in with any comments..
In the beginning.. the edge features were very limited to a Night Clock, a gimmicky multi-coloured contacts ringer and a few tickers, but now after the 601 update.. the Edge has become so much more worth it over the vanilla S6..
FINALLY, SS have included access to all apps to use on your side swipe edge.. like the Note Edge and the Edge plus..
Sleep battery life has been improved .. (although im still testing this)
Theyve removed more apps for you to add yourself.
(S6 always had this) Nice to see SS are now including MS Office apps as an option to Google Drive (OneDrive suite is far better for using it on any device)
Finally, we now have Shutter Speed (Edge Plus) and improved camera and UI features..
Sadly though, as of yesterdays edge app update 28/2.. they removed the Night Clock.. Why?
Your stuck with Yahoo news, so far I havent found away to change to another app..
Theyve removed the nice Lock screen swipe effects, not a biggy IMO, but I liked it..
So all in all, Ide say that the MM update is a great update to the S6 Edge and IMO, makes the Edge a much more attractive buy over the S6, so great work Samsung... BUT
Its took Samsung a whole year to get here, which IMO, these features shouldve been in the Edge since 511, I understand they had to make the Edge Plus
(we didnt get the Note 5 here in UK) an attractive buy as well, and obviously.. as the S6 has now been replaced by the S7, theyre giving the Edge everything..

Today, i was "playing" with new manual camera, and noticed Optical stabilisation is missing. Do you have guys same problem? When i switch to video mode, the options shows up, but it crops image to 2/3 of stock size, as i remember in Lollipop it was full sized, or i am wrong? anyway, when i switch to photo mode, image stabilisation dissapear.

[HELP] "Messages" application is missing. No text messages notifications ?
Hello all,
I'm using a Samsung Gear S2 Classic on a Huawei Honor 6 phone, which is compatible, and since I've been using it (2 days) I've never recieved once a text message notification on it, or email. I recieve facebook messenger push notifications, so I can reply to the messages, but no way of going back to the application.
The real problem is that in the Tizen app menu, there is no "Messages" application, nor email for that matter. It's like they don't exist, they were deleted in the OS. But I know that they are there because I've seen the icons on video reviews on youtube. It's extremely frustrating to not recieve text notifications, it makes the watch useless. I've factory resetted twice, played with the options, sent hundreds of text with my phone in vibrate mode, silent mode, screen on, screen off, mixing combinations, but nothing works. I've tried looking on internet for this particular problem of notifications not working but have had no success in finding a fix.
This morning at work I factory resetted the Samsung Gear S2 once more and connected it to a friend's Samsung Galaxy S6, and when everything was synchronised I was shocked to see in the app menu on the watch the Messages and Email apps. I couldn't believe it ! So there must be some sort of compatibily issue with non-samsung (or non-galaxy ?) phones.
I've now synchronised it back to my Honor 6, the Messages app has dissapeard... furthermore I'm not recieving any notifications at all (no push notifications from FB messenger for example).
I don't know what to do, am I supposed to wait for an update ? Will there ever be one ? Are there any hopes ? Should I return my watch to amazon for a full refund ?

PS : I imagine that this could be a smart move for non Galaxy users to oblige them in buying new Samsung Galaxy phones... but I would like to keep my android phone for another year at least.

I need help to root a Note 3, SM-N9005 ATL Android 5.0 N9005XXUGBOL3.
Hello, I need to root a Note 3, SM-N9005 ATL Android 5.0 N9005XXUGBOL3. It is encrypted and would like to be able to recover the data that I have. Using the Smart Manager app was restarted and has not returned to start, when it start asking for the decryption key, restarts, lock screen appears and restarts again, staying at the Samsung logo, varying the tone of blue LED and vibrating as if it were to start and again restart.
When I start it in recovery mode I get the error "e:failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)".
I tried to root to see if I can make a backup of the partition /data but it is not possible, I tried flashing by Odin CF-Auto - Root, CWM Recovery, Philz_Touch and TWRP, but I always get error, can only Flash the official recovery and the phone still does not boot.
I have not activated developer mode and I don't know if I could do it from the recovery or flashing an alternative firmware.
If I couldn't root it, I have to find a data recovery company, I need to get messages from a Samsung SAT about another terminal that they are repairing, so I would have restored the factory settings to see if it works again.
Can anybody help me?

Cubot S500, S550 phones announced after MWC, exciting budget phones!
Cubot in general has made really good phones in the past, my first Cubot phone was the X9, which I was really pleased with. Cubot is releasing the Cubot S500 and S550, both MTK6735 phones starting at $129USD. The specs look decent for budget phones, and what excites me is that there is a decent 2700mAh battery in the S500 (the 5" version), which should provide decent battery life (for a non big battery phone of course).

MMS and automatic data enable
I noticed that with CM 12.1 I have to manually enable mobile data to send/receive MMS.
(I did not have to do this with Samsung's official 4.4. And I don't remember how it was with CM11.)

Then your device should automatically boot to the new version

Tester available for CyanogenMod on Samsung Galaxy J2
I'm using a brand new Samsung Galaxy JS (SM-J200G) on Android 5.1.1 using Kernel 3.10.9.
If anyone wants an active tester to build CyanogenMod for this phone, I'm available.
FYI, I've only rooted a phone once or twice before but I am a Linux freak so with a little help, I should be able to provide all the info you'd require.
Also, I don't own a Windows machine, if that's required. I only have Linux machines around.

hello everyone i am new here.
i have come here because i was trying to install a new recovery twrp to be exact. while i was installing it apeared a messge it said: the recovery has been installed correctly would you like to restart your mobile? and i restared my mobile and then it shown a message it said: system software not authorized by at&t has been found on your phone. at that time i had installed android lollipop 5.0.1 and it was rooted and i just wanted to re-install lollipop again by odin but knox and bootloader was enable so i cant reinstall the rom again and it seem like i have bricked my mobile..
help me please.

Note 4 - 2016 Issues (Bricked)
I have been reading on some of these forums regarding the Note 4 possibly having hardware or software failure in January and February of 2016.
I was using my note 4 last week with stock firmware, never been rooted or changed in any way and suddenly it started randomly rebooting until it finally wouldn't turn back on.
I tried all various groupings of button combinations which did nothing. I tried pulling out the battery and holding down the power button for a minute and then put the battery back in which got me to Odin mode (downloading do not turn off target). I had a MMC read failure and it would not boot up.
I tried to use odin to re-install new firmware but kept getting the error no Pit to partition (i do not know if it was my lack of ability or software/hardware problem). At this point i have given up but then read something about cooling down the phone so i stuck it in the fridge for 5 minutes. I took it out and it actually booted up normally.
Now i notice it is slow and laggy sometimes and still randomly shuts off (it was only using about 1.2G of 1.8G of ram it usually was previously).
Has anyone else had similar issues or found fixes to the problems described above?

Am I the only one having problems with power saving mode after Marshmallow?
Hi
I know it states "Restricting location services and most background data" so every time I lock my phone, I can't get messages through Facebook Messenger or Snapchat and when I open the app I should wait a few seconds for it to reconnect.
I find this new power saving mode annoying, as I can't choose to turn this specific thing off, so I can't use power saving mode to save power by lowering screen brightness and CPU without losing the ability to actually use the smartphone the way it should be used.
Is there any workaround for this?

Unable to change bootlogo in cyanogenmod 13...
So, I had cyanogenmod 12.1 snapshot installed on my xt1543, but decided to update to the unofficial cm 13 by Alberto97. After I did it, I tried to flash a moto x 2013 bootlogo and bootanimation file (1 file for both), but it didn't work. Now the problem is that I can't change the bootlogo! The bootanimation can be changed, though. Do you guys know what I can do to flash a new bootlogo? :confused:

[help asap?] Charging tablet directly with black and red wire

Automatically turn of screen overlay?
The screen on my Nexus 6P is too yellow so I'm using an app to make it more white. This works good, but gets annoying since I have to turn that off every time an app asks for permission to access something.
I think Google should've made the permission dialog on a separat layer above everything else, not affected by screen overlays, or just temporarily disable all overlays when a permission dialog is visible.
So... my question is now, is it possible to do any of this, maybe through Xposed? I guess moving the permission dialog to a separat layer would be difficult, but it's maybe possible to disable overlay temporarily?
I prefer to use stock as much as possible, but if I need a custom kernel or rom I would definitely consider it since this bugs me several times every day.

Is there a way to change the USB connection mode to always ask?
As per title, I want to know if it's possible to change the USB connection mode to always ask , i.e every time when I plug an USB cable, I want the phone to ask me how I want to connect (mass storage, ptp, charge only, etc)? Is this tweakable in build.prop?
Right now, this is default to mass storage mode, but sometimes I need another option. I have CM 12.1 unofficial (Lollipop 5.1.1.) flashed on my Samsung Galaxy W.

I'm still quite new to this forum, i'll try to put this simply.
I have lost my phone recently, htc one ul_m8, in france, and i tried to locate it on ADM. Problem is, that i deactivated my connection because i don't often use it. I checked a bit all over the place how i could activated "on air" or else, and still haven't found anything. I thought of using Airdroid 3 to be able to use my phone through my PC, but same problem, i need the 4g activated.
So my question is this:
I am aware of USSD codes that you can type in directly on the numpad to have access to various information and settings. Is there any other form of secret or no "ussd" codes that for example can be sent to the lost phone, to be able to remotely activate the connection. Or another way. But it has to be remote cause i honestly don't see any other way of accessing the phone.
I hope i was clear for most, my head is a bit scrammbled, to much precious information i was careless to not think of this beforehand. Anyway if anyone has any ideas, please reach out.

Replacement housing and band
Just wanted to let people know that after the clasp on my watch band broke and not really willing to pay $89 for a lime green replacement, I took a shot with a company called Shapeways that was offering a 3D printed housing that was compatible with a 20mm watch band.
I've been using it a few days so far and I'm really happy with it. The housing was $18.99 with shipping and I got a silicone rubber band for less than $10. The housing takes about a week to make before it ships and the one I got was flat black and looks good.
All in all, a good replacement and $60 ahead without having to go acid green.

Flash Samsung Stock Android
Wife is complaining that her S5 is lagging, sometimes becoming unresponsive, and she doesn't seem to always get Hangout messages until a few minutes later.
I was thinking I should just install a fresh Samsung Stock version. I've seen tutorials, but do I really need to download a 1.5gb file?
From what I can read in the tutorial, I downloaded Odin3, installed Samsung drivers, need to grab the .tar file from Samsung Stock version, then open Odin3 and flash that way.
Also, I did just update it via OTA to the latest firmware, going to have her play around on the phone while I wait for responses.

I've seen how to back up practically everything n the Sensation, with the exception of the stock recovery. How can that be done? I'm surprised I have not seen any mention of it.

One m7 with unlocked bootloader and twrp soft bricked and wont enter recovery
I recently rooted my friends m7 unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp but the phone kept rebooting on me so i went to youtube to find solution and found a video called how to disable system write protection on htc one... i followed the steps and flashed the zip just as it said and when my phone rebooted it was stuck in softbrick.. so i kept tampering with it was able to get it into recovery and then i flashed twrp again "i think" when i did the problem was not solved it just got worse now i cant enter recovery just the hboot page which says

MTK Droid Tools not detecting phone
Hey everyone,
I have Qmobile Noir Z6 (rebranded from Gionee Elife S5.5) and when I connect it to my PC, mtk droid tools doesn't detect it. I have another phone called Qmobile A300 and mtk droid tools is detecting it fine, I even created and flashed a CWM recovery for Qmobile A300 using mtk droid tools. Also, I saw 3 other threads by people having gionee phones and they had the same problem too. Qmobile Noir Z6 is MTK 6592 whereas Qmobile A300 is MTK 6572. What could be the problem?

[Q] Is there any recovery for SM-T330 'milletwifikx'?
I wanted to use CM12.1(although it's unstable but wanted to use) but there was NO RECOVERY FOR 'milletwifikx' ! I used TWRP for milletwifi but seandroid error occured.:and because of that my KNOX Warrenty was dead:eek:( Is there Any way to install rom without recovery or Is there Custom recovery for mine?

Alexa on firestick stopped working.
A couple days ago my stick updated. Then I got all the new features of Alexa. Awesome. Still getting into it etc... Now a couple days later. No updates. No changes. And Alexa no longer works? Whenever I say a voice command I am prompted with 3 lines of text asking what I said. And then searches Amazon's database. No Alexa response to anything.
I've also noticed that multiple menus are overlaying each other. E.g. when I have the 3 lines ask me what I said, I can see text on top of text.
I tried resetting the device. And as for clearing cache, only amazon music and amazon videos are amazon apps in that section.

Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830: Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration)
Hello, I am sorry if this post has already been made somewhere but I still can't find the answer for fixing the problem suggested in the title and I may have posted this on a wrong section earlier, very sorry :(
So I have a GT-S5830 Galaxy Ace and decided to install CyanogenMod 7 with CWM. The flashing of the phone was a success but I came across a bug (or problem?) of screen orienteering and I couldn't find that answer. Right after this, I then decide to restore back to stock ROM. However, I came across a problem when connecting the device (in Download Mode) to my PC; it stated Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration) in Device Manager.
Following Procedures I have done:
- USB Debugging enabled on phone
- Samsung USB Driver installed
- All drivers on PC up-to-date
I am also following a guide to restore back to ROM using Odin Multi Downloader, but it does not recognize the phone in ID:COM. The bleep on the PC can be heard but it only recognizes when the phone is in normal mode; in Download Mode it shows Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration). Please help as I am giving this phone to my sibling.

Moto 360 2nd gen - problem with "Open..." command
Hello,
I have a problem with Google Voice "Open [application name]" command on my Moto 360 2nd generation smartwatch. The rest of voice commands works fine. Problem exist since yesterday. The problem is that when I say for example "Open Spotify". It will show popup with text "Open on your phone". Before yesterday when I sayed this command it opened any application which has Android Wear features on my Moto 360, not smartphone. When I open application using my touch menu in smartwatch, there is no problem, application opens on smartwatch fine. It exist on all installed applications, Spotify app is only example. The rest of commands like step counter, sms writting, calling works fine.
I tried:

A trick to dual boot Android and Ubuntu or other OS
I found a trick to enter hardware recovery mode without connecting SATV to PC.
In the past, I had to connect SATV to a PC using microUSB to USB cable to enter recovery mode by hold power button for ~3 seconds.
After flashed rooted ROM 3.0 I found behavior of HW recovery mode changed, i.e., I need to hold power button much longer than 3 seconds after power light turns green until entering recovery mode.
Then I found by accident, if I left a micro USB OTG cable like this connected to the SATV:

LG G3 Stuck in a Boot Loop. Someone please help me
I think I bricked my G3 :/
I tried usual methods but couldn't get into recovery or download mode, then a few days ago I realized I could get it into this fastboot mode by holding volume up and plugging into USB as you would normally do to get into download mode but you have to hold up for a minute or so (it shows the download mode icon for a few seconds and then goes to fastboot) when in fastboot it connects to the computer and shows in device manager as "android device" and the phone says "processing commands" So I tried to follow this guide http://ift.tt/1pSMrgJ to return it to stock, but I couldn't get it to show up in the LG software.
I read some forum posts about fastboot mode and found that by using the command "fastboot boot twrp.img" (the recovery image I downloaded) in command prompt it would send it to the phone and the phone would display some info and then reboot into TWRP, from here I tried to install a correct rom but the installation starts and there are some errors and then it hangs. I also tried the command "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" but it fails. This is as far as I have got with it.
It came to me in this condition but the previous owner said he was running Cyanogen and it was working fine until he tried to update it with a nightly build. I suspect he might've tried to install the wrong rom for the phone or the rom was corrupt.

Microphone & speaker sound clear. Is it normal?
Hello all. I got my S5 two weeks ago and I love it. But one thing bugs me a bit about it though... I have read many comments on the Internet from owners of this phone that the microphone & speaker sounds muffled while the speaker on my phone sounds crystal clear (the same as on my HTC One M7) together with the microphone... I did a test call & the person told me that they hear no difference between this phone & my HTC... Is this good, or should I be worried about a popped membrane on both parts?

KODI with - amazon voice search :D (proof of concept)
Hi Guys,
I managed to root my FireTV a few days back, and yesterday decided to look at the voice search to see if I could use it for other things.
After reversing some code, I found the actual voice search is handled by com.amazon.vizzini.apk
The SearchOverlay.class has this piece of code, which calls back to the amazon fireTV UI SearchResultsActivity upon completion with the search result returned as a string.
I replaced the fire TV UI with my own code, which receives the search text, and then sends a JSON rpc to KODI's web interface, and brings KODI to the front after the search is completed.
Here is a video of it in action, sorry I can't post a link directly as due to < 10 posts on here.

Restoring data backed up from a different ROM?

I had got a CWM back up of my stock ROM with some modifications of some system files, Xposed, BBS, Greenify & Amplify installed previously. Now I had flashed a an Miui custom ROM. With this ROM, there is no option to install apps to SD Card(external). I had flashed a zip that converts external SD to internal and vice versa. Now my question is: If I restore 'data' from the previously taken CWM back up, then will I face any problem? As my default internal memory is the external SD, then when apps are restored will it get stuck up midway as the external memory size now is reduced from 26 GB to 4 GB? I had used Link2SD after creating a 2nd partition. Now, how can I get those appa stored in the 2nd partition? One thing I observed is, Xposed V80 is not working with this Miui custom ROM.(getting boot loop)

Problem with wifi
wifi either stuck at obtaining IP address or just save it most of the time. If it gets connected it takes lots of time. Manually putting IP address not work either. The problem happens when I try to connect to other android phone wifi hotspot my home wifi work quite well. Backup apps

I recently had to send my G4 into service because of faulty motherboard ( issue with 505X devices ) and lost all my files except the photos I took ( because I had google photo to backup them ). Just to be safe, I am now searching for an app that lets me select all the folders which contain files that I need to be backed up ( no mater what kind of files there are in it ). In google backup, I found an option to add just one more folder ( which is not convenient ) but that will backup only videos and photos ( this isn't convenient either ) from that folder.
Do you know such an app that has what I need? I tried most of those popular ones ( mega, dropbox, mediafire etc. ) but none seems to fit my description.

I made an app which lets you watch youtube with screen off (it's just a black layer)
The app is most effective for AMOLED displays as it draws a black rectangle over youtube (or any other app) on request
Why did I need it:
Most of the lengthy videos I watch such as music albums, science talks, radio podcasts, etc do not need the video display but rather just the audio
It's a good way to save battery, I used to get around 15% on the next morning, now it's about 35%
How to use it:
Tap on the sticky notification if enabled. After the configured delay (default: 5s) a black layer will "turn the screen off"
Tap on the floating button inside the app to have the same effect
Tap on the black layer to remove it and switch your display back on

Things I should do:
- Make removing black layer by double tap on long press to avoid "accidentally" removing when phone is in pocket (subscribe, maybe I will roll down a few updates/revisions)
- Make app start with android (option)
- Test on Android 6 Marshmallow

[Q] The never disappearing problem of "ALWAYS OPEN WITH"
Hey all, somebody please help me before I go totally nuts. Is it only me, or everybody is experiencing this problem and just getting over it? Anybody who has used android should be familiar with this... You tap an image file, android asks you to chose an app to open with, you chose an app, happily press always, and 2 minutes later the same process again! This seems to concern image, audio, video, txt, and whatever other file! 3 extra taps whatever file format you wanna open, googled it, people where asking about this as far back as 2011!! And still, no solution looms in the horizon! Can't beleive Google hasn't realized this for so long... This problem has existed on all my devices, Samsung S2, S3, Note 3,Tab S2... Plz don't start saying go to apps, and clear defaults, coz' that only works in theory :eek: but not in practice... Android versions involved were ICS, JELLYBEAN, KITKAT AND NOW LOLLIPOP... Tried with all 3rd party file managers on the play store... No success...

How to enable two-way recording
Hello guys, new here :)
I do understand two-way recording is disabled in the factory setting.
Some apps offer two-way recording if I have my phone rooted.
The problem is some of my essential apps won't allow my phone rooted for security reasons.
The question is : is it possible to do this procedure?
1. Root
2. "enable" two way recording
3. Unroot
4. Now I can record my calls with any apps.
* Call recording is legal in my country, (South Korea) as long as I'm in the party. I'm a consultant, so I want to record calls to see if I've been doing the conversation in the right way. For good reasons! :P thank you in advance.

Ellipsis 7 No Android Os
Hello everyone,
Not sure if this is the right area to ask. If it's not my apologies. I am trying to fix an ellipsis 7. My cousin had it requesting a system update but he kept on postponing it. when he did decide to update it there was a glitch I assume and android was somehow wiped from the tablet. I have managed to get into factory mode but there is no way to do a factory reset. In factory mode all I see is reboot, auto test, manual test, item test, tet report, debug test, clear emmc, safe mode, and version. I have tried both clear emmc and safe mode, but nothing happens there. I have checked version and like I said it shows no android version on it which I assume means no android on the device. Is there some way of making a bootable sd card to get the software back on it?

Sd card partition not detecting
please help i partioned my sd-card as first partition as primary fat32 partition and second as ext2/3/4 for multiboot, but some rom cm13 based and cm12.1 custom rom saying sd card corrpted and fomat again to delete partition what is problem, please help

After month of searching to find a way to use fastboot on Linux Mint for my ZE551ML, Minimal_adb_fastboot from GitHub work.

V810 Bricked - ADB unauthorized - sideload only
So I thought TWRP was not right for CM so as a dumbass I got a cm-12.1-20160228-NIGHTLY-v500-recovery.img
Wiped the device completely and executed:
dd if=/sdcard/cm.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Now, all I can do is boot to CM recovery.
Please HELP!!!!

- Adb is unauthorized so can't push pull or adb shell
- Cant load bootloader (just stuck on LG)
- LG Mobile Tool won't recognize ****
- From CM recovery, the system cant mount anything...
- Only Apply Update from ADB, takes adb to sideload mode
- Tried to sideload anything, it wont work as system cant mount anything.
Please HELP!!!!

display always on?
I know this is probably a dumb question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I just ordered a ZW2 from amazon and was wondering, is there a way to keep the display always on? I know you can turn ambient display on and off, but it still looks like it goes to a low power mode, I was hoping to keep it in full display mode all the time. And if this is possible, how much of a battery drain would I be looking at?

Faulty hardware?
Recently I've been having problems with random lag spikes, reboots and suddenly the screen just going black. This has gradually started happening more and more. Sometimes I've also gotten a boot fail screen wich resets the phone into download mode, other times I've gotten a kernel panic message stating eMMC read fail. To get the phone running again I often have to try several reboots and pull the battery for a couple of seconds. The battery is brand new as I just replaced my old battery that was starting to instantly deplete at around 20%.
It seems like a couple of other people has had this issue.
I've been using the same debloated stock root rom for the past 3-4 months, and it has worked fine, until recently when these problems started occurring. I suspected the source of the problem was xposed modules or an app wreaking havoc on the device. First I tried uninstalling xposed through TWRP, but the problems still occured. Then I tried to do a factory reset through the settings menu, but oddly the phone just restarted without performing any reset. So i figured I had to do a wipe via TWRP, but I got some kind of mounting error. After installing TWRP v3 I managed to wipe and install a new rom.
I tried these roms but the problem still presists after several tries of flashes and wipes.

The last thing I have yet to try is to do a clean stock flash through Odin, but chances seem dim as evidence points towards some kind of hardware failure. Flash chip maybe?
If it actually is hardware failure I have the problem of having modified the phone, so even if I go back to a stock unrooted rom the "Kernel is not seandroid enforcing" and "Set warranty bit: kernel" text will still show up during boot. If I am correct there is still no way to remove this, right? Luckily Norwegian laws are quite lenient when it comes hardware fault warranty, with up to 4 years of warranty for phones.
Will the service shop immediatly dismiss phones if they detected a modified system, even if it's 100% guaranteed that the problem is hardware failure? Has anyone had any experience with this?
I know a friend of mine got his rooted Nexus 5 replaced, but that didn't turn on at all, so I think they just replaced it without checking.
